Where the money comes from
Memberships
A free account will keep everything you need to contribute. Member is US$59 a year at list; backers can reserve their first year at the US$47 founder rate. Founding Member, offered during Fund the Bay, includes membership for life and two years of Pro. Pro and the breeder programme will be priced before launch.
Fund the Bay
Backers reserve rewards (memberships, merch, hardware and archive sponsorships). Stretch goals show exactly what each milestone pays for. Nothing is charged until checkout opens.
Jardin hardware
We design and sell Jardin, our grow system, plus add-ons and a nutrient line (the Salt Club). Hardware is run as a separate part of the business, with its own budget.
Affiliate links
In our gear guide and some equipment pages, a few links to grow gear earn us a commission if you buy. Every one is labelled, they never appear in knowledge articles or Greenleaf's answers, and a commission never changes what we recommend. Paying members see fewer of them, or none.
The Academy (later)
Courses and certifications, including the course breeders take before they register lines. The foundation lessons will be free.
Breeder programme (later)
Verified breeders will pay for verification and the breeder tools. [OWNER: confirm breeder pricing before launch.]
Seed Club partner
The Seed Club runs through a licensed partner, which sells the seeds. [OWNER: say whether GenetixBay receives a fee or share from the partner.]
What we never sell
- Your data. We don't sell it, rent it, or share it for advertising.
- Advertising. No ad networks, no programmatic ads, no third-party trackers.
- Knowledge. No sponsored articles, no paid placement and no affiliate links in the knowledge base or in Greenleaf's answers. Our editorial policy sets this out.
- Rankings. Lineage evidence levels, reviews and Bay Trials results can't be bought.
Things we're still deciding
We may later offer clearly labelled “Featured” spots for certified breeders, courses and licensed businesses in community areas. If we do, they'll always be marked, and never appear in the knowledge base, Greenleaf's answers, your journal or your messages. We may also let members tip creators. Where the money goes
Into the build: hardware runs, the archive, the app, Greenleaf and the knowledge base. Fund the Bay's stretch goals list each one, in order, and our lab notes show the work as it happens. GenetixBay is community funded, not investor funded. [OWNER: confirm there are no outside investors, or describe them.]
